about

To anyone who knows the music of J Dilla, you might pick up on the fact that this song pays homage to one of our favourite Dilla grooves - Conant Gardens, the first track on the legendary Slum Village album Fantastic Vol 2. The title is a play on both the swaying hi hat groove present in both songs, and the influence of Dilla and the Detroit hip hop scene on Toronto culture, us being a close neighbour more so than any other American city. Motor City and the Six. It's true that Toronto really loves Dilla, and that influence shaped our band and approach to music in a profound way.

So this one's definitely for Dilla. Thanks for all you gave us and continue to give from your brief but illustrious and beautiful time on this planet. Toronto loves you and re.verse might not even exist without you.
